Brief description/objective

The overall aim of the present study is to investigate if positive and negative airway pressure influences cardiopulmonary- and hemodynamic responses by adding resistive loads or/and conducting NPPV throughout the entire breathing cycle in patients with COPD and in age-gender matched controls. The proposed study will compare vSBP (mmHg) during RLB and NPPV between patients with COPD and age- and gender-matched controls. An additional aim of the present study is to investigate if trends can be observed in vSBP-changes (mmHg) by gradually changing positive and negative airway pressure.
