Brief description/objective

A dosimetry intercomparison performed by an independent external body should account for the particular properties and the most commonly applied irradiation techniques of the considered irradiation units. This is especially valid when Tomotherapy machines are checked. For the 2013 TLD intercomparison of the SSRPM, a small Perspex ® cylinder phantom was used for this purpose. The large deviations of the measured (Dm) to the calculated (Dc) dose raised concerns about the methodology of the Tomotherapy setup. It was the aim of the study presented here to develop a setup which is more adapted to the specific properties of Tomotherapy machines.
