Little research has been carried out on recurrences of
catheter-related bloodstream infection due to coagulase-negative
staphylococci (CoNS-CRBSI). The main objective of this study was to
characterize patients with CoNS-CRBSI and infection recurrence after
catheter removal. We included 184 CoNS-CRBSI episodes. Only 8
patients experienced recurrent bacteremia and none of them developed
secondary infection of preexisting orthopedic or intravascular
implant material.
