Brief description/objective

To ascertain when to consider haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and how to use the H-score as a diagnostic tool for secondary HLH, as well as determining the aetiology of reactive HLH. We report a case of diagnosed HLH of which the aetiology remained unclear for a significant duration of the patient’s hospital stay. In the end it was visceral Leishmaniasis which led to secondary HLH. One reason that Leishmaniasis wasn`t strongly considered was the way of taking the travel history.
